I'm just thinking about getting a UPS - your story is a bit worrying in
that it took a while to find out the bad news. Did you have the
monitoring software running on a PC? And/or did the UPS indicate that
there was a problem?

Cheers,

Paul.

Well the story is as follows, had a big nasty smell lurking through the
house, thought it was the radiators but after a days worth of testing
I've found it is my big ups.

So I've pulled it out of the way and managed to reconnect all my
computer equipment off the mains again.  I took out the two million
screws in the top of the ups to see if I could see what the problem is,
and low and behold 3 of the 8 batteries are half melted.

Im hoping it hasn't damaged anything else as there not melted to
anything lucky only the battery case is a bit warped.  So does anybody
know where to get some cheap replacement batteries don't have to be APC
originals the cheaper the better.

The markings on the cells are as follows: Panasonic LC-R127R2R1 12volt
7.2Ah/20hr.

Any ideas?

Kind Regards,
Chris Bond
