Pete,
The spending hasn't stopped until you get all your cabling (can cost quite
=
a bit). I bought my YUV cables from a broadcast supplier RGB Comms
(www.rgb=
comms.com). They are a distributor so you may need an account (which I
have=
). If you get stuck, drop me a line and I may be able to help you out.
I bought 3 x 3m YUV cables for about =A380-90 each which was much cheaper
t=
han the stupid prices most HIFI retailers want for good cables. These are
b=
roadcast quality cables.
Paul.

Finally bit the bullet yesterday, and after 2.5hrs in RS, bought the
Panny<=
BR>
42", the tuner (which can be returned if I don't like it), a wall
moun=
t
bracket, new sub and the Limit prog scan DVD player. They price
match=
ed the
cheapest websites for each of the bits of kit (=A33299.94 for the
screen,
thanks to PRC for pricing it at =A33399.94, a penny cheaper than RS, so RS
=
had
to match and beat by =A3100 :-) ). The screen & bracket will be
d=
elivered on
Saturday, the tuner & tuner card will follow in a week or so.
I've not bought any interconnects yet (I've not finalised where all the
kit=
is going yet), but when I do, does anyone have any recommendations of
good,=
but reasonable, cables?
Pete

Well, I said I'd keep you posted on progress. For the full story of
m=
y
decision-making hell, refer to my various threads on the excellent
www.avforums.com, however, for the condensed version:
1. Panny/Pio/Panny/Pio etc etc. Finally decided on Pio for
practicali=
ty
reasons. 2. Nobody has stock of the Pio, unless I want to pay =A35k for
the=
privilege. RS can't commit to a delivery date, but will sell for
<=A34k.=
JL
likewise, plus they won't match anyone that doesn't have stock. 3.
Another<=
BR>
few hours spent researching screens 4. Now decided on the Panny, with
the
TU-PT600 tuner, again, for the same connectivity issues previously
discussed. I'm reliably informed that the new Panny receiver box is
a=
lot
better than the previous effort (direct pass-through of component inputs
fo=
r
eg). Anyone disagree? Tim?
My original plan (well, plan 14b) was to get the Panny screen with the
RCA<=
BR>
terminal board, and connect everything via my amp (i.e. s-video) apart
from=
the DVD, which would connect on the components. However, the
screen
apparently doesn't support both inputs at the same time (grrrr), so
that's<=
BR>
scuppered, hence my new decision to take the receiver box.
I tells ya, it's a minefield out there! I'm off to haggle with RS at
=
10
(and to buy the Limit DVD player), so I'll let you know. My 36"
=
TV goes
this weekend, so it's back to a 14" until the plasma arrives :-(
