Dont confuse BTOpenword with BTWholesale - BTWholesale provide ALL 
broadband/DSL links (excluding the LLU operators).

BTOpenWorld are just an ISP.

And why do people who have cable internet call it broadband when it's 
actually baseband ?

plug in what you like.

If they supply a router and you "tamper with it", then they
reserve the
right to suspend your ADSL service.

Personally, I would NOT recommend using BT as your ADSL ISP. I have
heard a number of horror stories surround their ISP arm's inability to
communicate with their ADSL provisioning arm.
