You can get rid of the nag screens by hacking as per the following link
(on=
e of the UKHA_D members???):
http://www.pictech.co.uk/
I did it and it's relatively easy to follow and works well.
Rolling (manual) record is a bit disappointing though - it would be
fantast=
ic if I could trigger (start/stop) recording as and when. I could then
only=
record when a PIR etc is triggered and thus have a longer backup of video =
(rather than it overwriting every 24 hours or so - which is pretty useless
=
if something happens while you're away for a few days or more!).
Anyone know of a workaround/hack etc to get Tivo to act more like a normal
=
VCR (i.e. no reliance on programme data or manual block recording)?
Paul.

Subject: [ukha_d] Tivo as a CCTV recorder
Just an update.
I have a couple of spare TIVOs which I intended to use as CCTV recorders.
I=
thought I might have to subscribe at =A310 per month to maintain their
functionality.
However I have found that you can do manual recordings anytime, although
yo=
u
do get nag screens.
You can record around 27 hours in Medium quality, which for me is fine.
Basic Quality is not good enough though.
I set mine on regular 1 hour manual recordings which overwrite
themselves
once space is required. I will update the hard disks soon so I can have
mor=
e
recording time.
I cant get the TIVOs to work with a multiplexer though. It appears
because<=
BR>
TIVO encodes/compresses the images, they cannot be replayed properly via
a<=
BR>
multiplexer.
The ultimate will be to network them so footage can be archived, but all
in=
good time ...
Umar
