A local AV (corporate) supplier that I had used to hire a projector 
once, called AV Network in Milton Keynes (www.avnetwork.co.uk). The 
thing to note is that the majority of these units are used for 
corporate presentations, so the impression I got was that the 
domestic AV suppliers were not getting the best prices. I would 
suggest looking in yellow pages for something similar local to you 
and see what you can find.
