you need a filter where the incoming mains passes through both live and
neutral chokes. This blocks the X10 from getting to the appliance. I have
some old filters that BT used to use in the garage that I am going to dig
out to try. These were available in 3A, 7A and 13A versions. If they work I
will find out a supplier of them and post details. Because I have some of
the 13A versions I will use them on the main feeds to PC equipment and AV
equipment to stop the Switch Mode PSU's from blocking X10.

Is that Dell definately a problem or is it that the cumulative effect of all
the Dell and other PSU's is finally killing the X10?

I recently unpacked another the Dell Rio's from the bulk buy...
unlike the other one I have installed, it's an X10-Killer. I know
this is a well know issue - forking out 35 quid for the X10 filter
plug seems excessive, is there a cheaper (home brew?) option to cure
the problem? Or another brand of filter plug that comes in at
something reasonable (say a fiver)?
