John,

Following on from a previous post, you may like to take a look at:

http://www.webpromotion.com/cinemar/dvdlobby.html

This appears to be exactly what you are looking for. A really cool,
flashy interface which allows you to display the DVD covers on screen
and select from them. It is possible to use the technique I described
earlier. Someone has even created a technique to interface the program
to DVD profiler to grab the cover images and automatically create batch
files to fire off the movies from the menu.

I've downloaded the trial package and got it working! Problem is the
amount of disk space required to hold a ripped DVD collection :-(

Well worth a look

Cheers
Don

It would be possible to create iso images of the DVDs using DVD
decriptor and store these on the hard disk.

Then you could mount and unmount DVDs in a virtual DVD drive using
Daemon Tools using its  command line options. If your DVD player is set
up for autorun, as the DVD was mounted in the virtual DVD drive, it
would play.

I don't think it would take much to code a flashy front end which
displayed the list of ISO files and ran the relevant command lines to
mount the relevant iso file when selected.

The basic mechanism works fine but I've not got round to coding a front
end.

Any takers :-)

Cheers
Don
