Nik,

the 12 output pins of the parralllel could operate 12 stereo outputs. I'm not
sure how well that would work in practice though as, to also answer your second
question, multiple outputs could be active at the same time.

TBH, I use the "see if it works/breaks/breaks something else" method when it
comes to electronics. As it is, the switcher seems ok, but I would be
interested in a more qualified opinion as to whether there could be any
expected pitfalls.
