I can add a little about the DABS version. I was a bit worried after Ian
had problems with the picture quality but I have to say the mine via a 
SCART lead produces a very good picture indeed. I've not connected it to
my big Sony TV, but on a old JVC it is very good. I've also installed the
region free ROM without any problems. In fact this is better that my 
Panasonic in that it's an automatic region selector and it's will output
Region 1 NTSC onto a UK PAL TV with no problems. My Panasonic (an old one)
states that it will do this, but it uses the wrong refresh rate and the
old JVC can't handle it. 

All in all very good.
