Nik,
A Smart Display won't help you here. It's specifically a client for
Windows XP machines. If XP isn't running, you can't connect - which
means that you can't use it during boot up, or if the OS has crashed.
Smart Display can connect to multiple machines - I believe it gives you
a list when you turn it on - but, again, only if the host machines are
(successfully) running XP.
I'd suggest something a little less high-tech. Perhaps a KVM and leave
a
monitor extension cable dangling out of the front of the rack.
