I wasnt involved with the site but if you visit

the
site. He may be able to give you more info. Before he set the site up we
had
struggled to reach about 93/350. Since the site has been up and features
in
the local press the numbers have rocketed.

I know work is going on developing an ADSL solution for smaller
exchanges
using equipment to add customers in multiples of 16 so it is well worth
registering an interest to get your exchange in the spotlight.

The biggest problem with rural areas is that an exchange covers such a
large
physical area, often the exchange is in one village and serves 3 or 4
other
villages around it. Even if an exchange gets enabled many of the people
served by it could be out of reach although the technology is improving
all
the time.

I'm very interested in this. Have been giving serious consideration to
running a similar campaign for my area. We are a small community
however
so don't know what success I will have.
