New member says 'Hi'

Hi all and a happy New Year to you,

just getting into all this HA malarky, I've ordered and am eagerly
awaiting some basic lighting and power modules , PIR, remote control
thingys and computer interface gadget, to start playing with. I've
got a trial version of Homeseer and like the look of it. I originally
started looking for a security system I could access over the net.
Whilst looking, I stumbled across X10 and thought I would have a
play. Any guidance on security systems that connect to Homeseer would
be gratefully received. What is the 'popular option'? I am also
ineterested in some remote CCTV coverage so if the alarm activates, I
can see what's going on.

I'm new to HA but am a qualified electrician so I hope it's not too
steep a learning curve (famous last words) I also am computer
literate, have experience with building web-sites and have dabbled in
electronic projects in the past.(Soldering iron is warming up in
anticipation). Please be gentle with me. Thanks in advance...

Best Regards

Neil Robinson
