Yup, I saw that reading through the site and, TBH, I don't get mail from
the xAP list ATM as there was just too much of it and most of it was
either not applicable to *me* or over my head with programming and
stuff. I also have not seen an update to UKHA_D for some time other than
the odd comment about xAP.

The point is that what I did was reasonably simple and it works for me,
if I thought xAP could do all the things and probably more I would have
used it and eventually I probably will. But right now the stuff I want
to use appears to be "on the workbench" and, apart from that the only
three things that I have doing anything meaningful by way of HA are HV,
ACE and the weather station, the only displays I want to use ATM are
TiVo and the SliMP3s, the PCs were just a nice side-effect. Since using
YAC I can get TiVo to receive text and therefore CID info from Meteor by
way of ACE that suits me, but also by using ACE I can get text messages
etc across all the devices including LAN PCs easily. HV it appears does
not yet support xAP and this is my main method of control of anything
X10.

So you see I wanted a nice simple, elegant solution of components that
could be strung together easily, so that's what I did.

I'm not saying it's for everyone, I'm not saying it's better than xAP by
any stretch and I'm not saying that I won't use xAP in the future, I'm
merely saying that this can be done right now using these bits 'n' bobs
if you have the facilities for them.

I was also talking to Mark H. the other day and, in a subsequent post,
he asked about a xAP to YAC bridge which would be excellent and save me
doing anything with the set up I have at present yet still allow xAP to
be added as required without re-jigging the whole setup.

However, in essence, for me to make any use of xAP I need either devices
that force me to use it or support in ACE and/or HV to make it viable
for me to go that way. Don't take that the wrong way, I want to see the
support there as the idea is great IMHO.

I have no doubt that it is being worked on and I have no doubt that xAP
support will be added to these devices, but for the moment this is the
best I can do with the kit I have. However I look forward to writing up
how to add xAP into the mix as well ;)
