I'd say both you and John sim are in a minority in terms of Quality. You
both have quality sources and top notch AV equipment. Most people don't.

If a TV show overruns A VCR, TiVo and Sky+ will all fail to catch the
end unless you programme for it.
Unless you have 2 Sky systems installed at the minute then the 'two
shows on at the same time' problem affects you now and you can live with
it. I don't watch a lot of TV and if two show clash I live with it and
make a choice. You might be better living like Grandad trotter and have
4 tv's  - one for each channel!! :-)
I tell TiVo what TV shows, Actors, Directors I like then forget about
it. Every time I go to watch TV there is something on that I like, for
34p a day that is worth it to me.
BT ADSL/Sky can't even begin to compete in terms of price with NTL for
the services that I want.
The ONLY advantage Sky+ has over TiVo is the ability to WATCH one
channel while RECORDING the other. AFAIK you cannot RECORD two at the
same time.
