Hmmmm...John is in a huge minority! I couldn't let that post go
without
replying!
If your Sky picture is comparable to a DVD then I must be getting a
different version of Sky to you. It's great that Sky+ records the
mpeg
stream - well, it would be if the mpeg stream was actually any good!
We
grab some TiVo stuff in "Basic" quality - a few soaps and
kids shows. And
it does get blocky - and start to look like SKY! :P But in the 2
highest
quality settings, from it's own analogue tuners - the quality is
superb.

Yes..no doubt it's going to mature.

I can see how this is perfect for you living on your own Tim, but it
isn't
very good in our family situation where it means someone watching from
the
PVR means no-one else in the house can watch Sky (unless you get a
SECOND
subscription).
TBH...my hatred of Sky (after their recent 15% price rise) has grown
even
more. TiVo pulls more than enough off terrestrial TV (and freeview)
than I
can watch now, so I'm seriously considering cancelling my Sky
completely.
