As a former advocate of a PC based Showshifter Solution, can I just now
formally state on the record:

I WAS WRONG.

Tivo is the greatest thing since sliced bread for Television. It batters
showshifter into a small, rather pointy hat with a "D" on the front.

Ours is now in it's third day of life, has about twenty season passes and a
bunch of stuff we didn't even know was back on the air because of obscure
scheduling has been recorded.

Tivo doesn't quite get our preferences yet, so the tivo suggestions are a
little wide of the mark, but already I don't think I would want to watch TV
without it!

*already* we are getting so used to pausing and replaying TV it's hard to
see how we could do without it, and the whole situation of having a few
dozen episodes of cool stuff available because Tivo did it overnight rather
than just "there's nothing on".

If any of you are thinking about a Tivo, stop thinking, and get one while
you can. Even without the addition of a turbonet card (drooling at the
prospect of that one, btw) it's one of the best entertainment investments we
have ever made.

Ian.
