Re: Viewsonic smart displays

Thanks for all the input on this one guys. I am now convinced that
smart displays are the way to go for HA use.
While I will probably wait for other models / makes to ship and the
prices to come down a bit, the 15" unit from Viewsonic particularly
appeals to me. Size for one thing! A 15" tablet style web brower
with stylus sounds very attractive.
The other thing is the VGA pass-through: When saw a Crestron for the
first time, I thought the video window playing in the corner looked
really cool!!
I am thinking that a PC sitting there as part of the whole home
theatre setup could do well with one of these docked on a nearby
table. This will give the band-width needed for video playback (off
the pc video i/o card) while docked and still have the advantage
being removed for use while sitting on the sofa - surfing etc.
The PC can have a secondary display output (DVI pref.)to a big
plasma display and could be used to view pc output (DVR, etc.). It
would need some clever i/o control hardware, but I figure it would
be way cheaper and more functional that Crestron.
Any ideas?
