2.5.5 or 2.5.5a if you have a Philps widescreen TV which is causing
problems

Nah, not necessary... if you have a spare port, then it wont harm it, 
you'd obviously want to power the Sky/cable/whatever box as well so that
when Tivo goes to record during a power cut it gets something.... :)
