RE: Cat 5 sockets ADVERT

Hi,

We also have a new 'Active 4000' face plate coming out soon which has a 5
port 10/100Mbps switch built in. This will give either an RJ-45 for the
uplink or an IDC punch down strip and then 4 switched 10/100Mbps ports
vertically positioned accessible from the bottom face of the faceplate.
This design is the size of a single plate - i.e. the size of a single
'mains' socket wall plate. All of the ports are auto MDI/MDIX so there is
no need to worry about cross over cables.

This is advance information, it is a product, does exist but will not be
available for order for the next 1 to 2 weeks so no price or part numbers
for the moment.

If anyone is interested I will put together a review for Mark to publish if
suitable.

By the way, just in case anyone reading this does not notice - I do work
for Connectix!

Regards

David

I think you will have to download the catalogue for a picture so I have
mailed you a scan

I have also found the company to be fast and friendly.

Subject: [ukha_d] Cat 5 sockets

Hi all

In the next month or so I will be installing around 350 runs of Cat 5
approx
200 of which will be terminated onto sockets (the rest being for used
for
sensors/alarms/clipsal etc).

Does anyone have a view on the best type/price of Cat 5 sockets?

Main requirements are to be unobtrusive (swmbo requirement) and to take
a
minimum of 3 sockets in a single gang faceplate.

Thanks
Mick
