Ewen,

Did you consider the Comfort Smartfit UCM in combination with a Smartfit
system (room controller, main unit and new valves).

I've got one which allows me to set up my own schedule (if I want) or
use the SmartFit schedule. It also reports temperature changes as they
happen (room and hot water). Quite a clever system but not a cheap
option! It also requires fitting the new valves and controller -
although I didn't find this difficult, it's not to be undertaken
lightly!

Paul.

I'd like to add some additional control to our heating system and hope
the
gurus on the list can help.

I'm thinking of adding a second timer and getting Comfort to switch
between
timer based on the alarm state.  I could use the second timer for
holiday
mode which has the heating on for a shorter time and at a lower temp.
This
sounds ok but to take it to its logical conclusion I should have 5
timers
for Alarm On, Night Mode, Holiday Mode, Alarm Off but this would be
getting
a bit silly.  I like the idea of getting Comfort to switch timer as
SWMBO
understands a timer and does not need to try to program Comfort.  Is
there
any other way to do this.

I'd also like Comfort to be able to override for an hour.  This I can do
with two relays (heating and water) - correct?

Regards,
Ewen
