I recall reading about this scam myself but I can't recall getting one
of
the e-mails.

I contacted eBay straight away but in the meantime I remembered I can
login
using Microsoft's .net password - which I did. I then had access to the
full
details (name, address, e-mail, etc) of the individual that had hacked
me.
I immediately changed my e-mail address, password and password hints.
Of
course eBay then automatically send the confirmation of these back to
the
e-mail address they have on file. So although I've successfully changed
my
password the 'hacker' knows I've changed and also from what IP address
(fixed).

eBay have responded this morning basically stating I should change my
password and retract any bids placed (there are none).

What's concerning me though is how did the perpetrator get my password
and
if he's got that one has he got others?

Did you get an email at some stage in the past few weeks purporting to
be from ebay and asking you to log in and confirm your details?
If you did it may have asked you to follow a link on the email which
takes you to a page that looks like an ebay page but actually has
nothing to do with ebay.

This is a well known scam circulating at the moment as the web page is
used by hackers just to gather peoples account details.
If you do get an email along these lines always check that the page you
are directed to starts with www.ebay.com or www.ebay.co.uk
I have had a couple of emails like this since Christmas and there are
rumours there is a similar scam going around for QXL also.

All I can advise is you contact ebay immediately with all the details.

I know this is not quite HA but equally I feel amongst friends here 
:-)

My eBay account has been hacked tonight with my password, password hint
and registration details all being changed.  Now I don't know if this
is
quite common but it sure scares the heck out of me that someone could
have done this. For example what else have they got?

Anyone know how this might have happened?  I'm sitting behind a
router
and I also have ZoneAlarm Pro running (well most of the time - when
it's
not giving me problems!).

Should I go and change all my passwords (what a thought!) now?
