Please don't construe this as looking for a fight, however those using the
United Devices screensaver as part of the Cancer Project should be aware
that they will be investigating smallpox also:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/2724833.stm

In the FAQ for the project, they ask:
"How do we know it will not be used in biological weapons research?"

Nearly every country has signed treaties not to conduct biological weapons
research. Inspections will check that governments are not using it for
biological weapons research projects.

Which is deeply ironic, as the only major country in the world who is
actively pursuing bioweapons research, and refusing access for international
inspections is the United States.

The IP statement of the Smallpox research is at:

http://www.chem.ox.ac.uk/smallpox/statement.html

and explicitly states that the results will be handed to the US Department
of Defense.

As a United Devices User, you can opt out of this (and the not exactly
Globally named "Patriot Grid") project, by going into
Your Device Profile webpage, and de-selecting the projects you wish to
participate in.

Ian.
