RE: IR & the Silent Gliss 5100

'Volt free contact'  usually means a simple switch or relay i.e. not transistor switching
I think the tlc guy may have his 'wires crossed' about what you were asking= .

It seems from what he has said that the curtains require a simple contact closure to operate them....

It appears that there is a
<http://ww= w.silentgliss.com.au/electric/5100c.html> 5100 Electronic (Motor
9011) or a  <http://www.silentgliss.com.au/electric/5100d.html> 5100
Intelligent (Motor 9010) version
The former can operate via a switched input the latter supports LonWorks=AE= BUS
technology
doesn't look like either will do IR directly :-(

I'm sure there is someone on this list that knows better than me though

Hi,

Im looking at getting some electric curtains (the Silent Gliss 5100) and spoke to a guy from tlc-direct about whether they could be directly wired i= n
to an IR network as opposed to using an IR emitter.

What he said is that it is possible though the IR receiver needs to support=
a volt free contact. Anyone know exactly what this means? Will this be
compatible with the Xantech stuff?

Any help would be much appreciated....

Thanks
Claude
