IR cabling over CAT5

I'm just about to make up a couple of adapters (RJ45 - 3.5mm mono jack) so I
can plug Xantech IR emitters directly in to the structured cabling.

My question is, which is the "better" way to utilise the CAT5 cores?

use a single pair,

or use cores from seperate pairs...

or doesn't it matter?

Paul G.
