Do I need to use an opto. The original poster used a simple transistor

On  the original post the guy mentions that the ocelet
has
open collector outputs and that the Kustom system  wqs looking for
5v
signal..So Paul has the same problem..if an opto is used ..Tie the
collector
to +5v via say 100 ohm resistor and connect the emitter to the zone tx
line.....Some connection diagrams might help??
