Thanks Shane.

The Ocelot bit is just a red herring (it was what the original poster
had - I don't have one). I'm hoping that HomeVision (which I do have) is
the same in/output wise and can be used in it's place.

What I'm querying is what value resistor should be used, how it's
connected and what for.

The problem stemmed from the 'Kustom' amp not liking standard IR input
>from found that if the output from his Ocelot (or other system) was connected
via a transistor, it would work. Something to do with the voltages
involved and the transistor acting as a switch?

Now, I don't know what the output voltage of HomeVision is when sending
IR - it maybe that it will work straight off with the Kustom Amp - but I
didn't want to risk it :-) The Kustom amp needs 5V apparently according
to this guy.

Does this make any more sense?

Thanks,

Paul.

Hi Paul,

I don't think we are ignoring you :-) we are just confused ?

>From my electronics experience (albeit limited) the explanation doesn't
seem to make much sense.

More information on what the Kustom input looks like i.e. internal
pullup on input or not.

More information on the Ocelot's output. I am not sure if level
translation and logic inversion is required or just one of them ?

Maybe I am simply not smart enough - but I tried answering those
questions from the circuit description and it just didn't make sense -
sorry.

Shane
