Quickie - mono to stereo

Chaps, would I be right in assuming that if I have a mono audio souce, (A
Comfort UCM01A), and I want to connect it into a stereo input (my PC's
soundcard), via its 3.5mm jack socket, then I can just put a mono 3.5mm jack
plug on the output, and the barrel on the mono plug (being just 1 segment
rather than 2) will bridge the L & R contacts in the stereo socket and give
audio on both channels? - I'm assuming that the tip is ground?

I know I could put a stereo 3.5mm plug onto the UCM01A output, and bridge
the L & R contacts when I solder the plug on, but I just don't happen to
have any stereo plugs floating around in my parts bin... (loads of mono ones
though!)

TIA

Paul G.
