For these cat5-less switches can I run C-bus switches over existing
(isolated) switch wiring rather than Cat5?
Hi Martin - I'm going to be doing exactly this for the same reason - I
can
get at the cable and I'm effectively going to isolate and use it. In my
case
as 'C-Bus' although it should be twisted pair - it is in a metal
conduit
though so noise pickup should be minimal - you only need two wires
of
course regardless of the number of switches you have - which is nice -
It
does make it somewhat difficult to reinstate should you take your C-Bus
stuff with you if you move. In one case I have drawn out the cables from
a
switch as they were placed in a conduit - in fact two conduits so I left
one
in place (isolated) and ran the CAT5 down the other which was handy.
Alternatively leave all the wires in place and run to a bus coupler
either
above the switch or back at the consumer panel.
