I ordered a 'Daisy Duck' from the Early Learning Centre and it arrived today (for my little boy BTW)
http://www.elc.co.uk/Product.do?sku=48873&p1=KeywordSearch&p2=23

It's infrared remote controlled and the controller is fully waterproof and has a very good range.  The remote is quite large and chunky - about the size of a bar of soap.  It only has two buttons, but you could use it to control lots of things via HV  ie. having certain number of button presses over a few second period etc...

And the added bonus is that if you never get round to using it with HV you can always play with the duck - which is very cute BTW Phil !!!

Regards

Simon
