Err... (tries to remember...)
It was a sensor pad, plus controller, but I don't recall it being a multiway
controller... I think it is just a single controller...

Yes it has worked reliably for the most part... there have been a few
occasions when the switch has gone into an endless ramp-up / ramp-down
cycle, which is stopped by just operating the sensor switch again. This
appears to be caused by being too "quick" with the hand over the switch. (I
have occasionally been able to force it to happen). I don't know if this is
only a problem with the momentary version...

It is easy for untrained visitors because:

a) It's not secreted away invisibly. - It was a deliberate design choice
(SWMBO's actually), that the switch should be obvious..

b) It works perfectly well when the sensor plate is touched as opposed to
operated by proximity.

Visitors just assume that it is a standard touch dimmer, and operate it
accordingly...
