I've not seen either of those sites - but I moved into a new house that
had a Baxi combi boiler.  The boiler had been installed with an internal
timeswitch but no thermostat, but one could be easily installed by
removing a internal link.  I use a relay across these contacts (controlled
by a one-wire Maxim switch, but thats a different story) and it works
great.  The boiler has it's own overrun, so it really doesn't care even if
I switch the relay on and off every few seconds, but my software is
designed for a maximum of 4 cycles an hour anyway just in case.
Switching the mains input to the boiler wouldn't work since the boiler has
to have power or you don't get hot water.
