RE: Re: Keene IR Amp

Thanks Gents for your reply's.

I have spoken to Keene and a very helpful chap said they have had this problem, he suggested instead of using the IRSR (IR Standard Receiver, 40khz) try a IRWBR (IR Wideband up to 100KHz) as he thinks it is the receivers as opposed to the transmitters, this might cure the problem, just thought I would ask you guy's first.

He also said these IRWBR receivers are more susceptible to stray IR so have to be placed more carefully.

BTW, he also said they are developing a CAT5 version of their IR kit for later in this year, might be interesting.

I can confirm my Xantech system has difficulties with TiVo, the
double button press story sounds very familiar.  On everythin else,
the Xantech works 100%.

I've always put this unreliability (and consequent lack of WAF) down
to my Xantech receivers are all of the filtered type, to remove neon
noise, rather than the straighforward ones.  Seems that isnt the case.

One thing I have noticed is that it all works better when the TiVo
remote is pointed at  wall, rather than at the receiver, so there may
be an issue with the level of IR gettig blasted at TiVo (I have a
stick-on emitter right over the TiVo window)

I take it you bought a hardwired IR distribution system or similar?
