Check www.tdc.co.uk for some GSM modems. They sell the Siemens MC35T
modem<=

for =A3153. This is SIM free and does GPRS too. Has a standard RS232
interf=
ace
and you can get all the documents off the web. There is a non GPRS
model
called TC35T but this is =A3172. This requires an antenna and serial
cables=
etc. They do a starter kit for =A3215 which has all you need to get
going.<=

The modules you see in the Elektor article are expensive. I know, cos
we
bought one to do some testing in the States.
We use the MC35 embedded module in our automative telematics device. If
you=
wanted to do your own embedded design, then the MC35 is only =A3130.
