SMS modem project in Elektor

Howdy,

I was in town at lunch time and noticed the latest Elektor mag has a
project usng an SMS modem to control a mains socket.

It's a bit of overkill (IMHO) to use it for one socket, but the modem
itself looks like it could be very useful for general HA applications.

I think the one in the article was :-

although the part number isn't the same.

The spec looks like it can do all sorts besides SMS but that would
probably be the most useful from an HA point of view.

I was just wondering if anyone had seen this or anything similar
before, or has used something like this?

There's a supplier listed in Germany, but none in the UK, and no
pricing information.  If it wasn't outrageously expensive, and with
a
cheap SIM, it could be a nice SMS gateway to send and receive info
