Paul,
I run a New Media business specialising in Video Production, streaming,
CD,=
DVD etc.
For the very small cost of DV tape (a bit more if you're using Pro tape) -
=
I always keep the original as an archive and therefore don't need to play
i=
t back to tape again. I'm not quite sure why you want to do this unless
you=
've either: a) wiped the original tape :( or b) only want to record back
to=
tape selected segments i.e. not the whole tape. If it's b) I don't bother =
doing this as it's just as easy to pull sections again from the tape using
=
Premiere's DV device control and batch capture lists.
Anyway, back to your problem - Are you using a hardware accelerated
capture=
card (Matrox, Pinnacle etc?) and what ver of Premiere? With most setups, y=
ou should be able to play the unedited video straight out to DV so it
sound=
s like your project settings might not be correct. You will have to
transfe=
r at 1:1 speed i.e. if your footage lasts 1 hour, it'll take an hour to
tra=
nsfer. There are some devices out there that will do x2 or x4 transfer but
=
these are specialist and expensive.
Let me know what your setup is and what settings you have in Premiere and
I=
'll see if I can help further.
Cheers,
Paul Gale
