Thanks Ian
I would have initially suspected something electrical internally, but we
get
them same problem in each house when the mains board it off, therefore no
power in the house at all.
I may try the recording thing and mail it over - thanks for the offer.
Dean.

Hi
The people who would find any transmitters are here
http://www.radio.gov.uk/
very soon to become a part of OFCOM.
Usually they would need more information than this before they would
inspect. If only those three houses are affected then in theory the
transmitter would need to be in the very close vicinity or others to
would be effected. There can be other causes, one of the most common is
noisy thermostats but that generally doesn't cause what I would call a
buzz. If you can record the noise then email it over, I can have a guess
as to what it may be. We frequently get called to weird problems where
transmitters are blamed but are rarely the cause, with the exception of
the pirates or non approved kit!
If you think I can help any further then feel free to call me at work, I
would normally delete the sig for group msg's

At one time (pre BT) all DTI radio interference problems were dealt with
by
Post Office Telecomminications enginners but when we became BT plc we
were
no longer a governement department and thet work went elsewhere. BT do
still
have investigation teams but as you have stated previously the problem
is
internal to the building. I believe all the DTI work is now undertaken
by
the Radio Authority http://www.radioauthority.org
One further thought, is anything else running on the same cable. for
instance, although a phone line only needs 3 wires between sockets
(A,B,Bell) you cant run two phone lines over a 6 wire cable as you get
overhearing and other noise induced eg
BLUE/White Line 1 B Wire
WHITE/Blue Line 1 A Wire
ORANGE/White Line 1 Bell Wire
WHITE/Orange Line 2 Bell Wire
GREEN/White Line 2 B Wire
WHITE/Green Line 2 A Wire
will suffer from interference because the bell wires from the two lines
are
run on a twisted pair and effectively introduce transformer coupling
between
the two circuits, whereas
BLUE/White Line 1 B Wire
WHITE/Blue Line 1 A Wire
ORANGE/White Line 1 Bell Wire
WHITE/Orange
GREEN/White Line 2 B Wire
WHITE/Green Line 2 A Wire
BROWN/White Line 2 Bell Wire
WHITE/Brown
Will be fine.
Hope that helps
Keith
