Just tried it on eBay and you are right. At least now that I know WHY it
scrolls down more than one screen I can avoid it by clicking just below the
slider.

I had a thought that maybe the functionality depended on the length of the
page
but having just done a side by side comparison, both eBay and AutomatedHome
had
scroll bars of the same size.

Clicking just below the slider needed 5 clicks to traverse the whole page
on
both sites.

Clicking at the bottom of the scroll bar, eBay needed only 3 clicks
(actually
about 2.5 but you cant do half a click!!!), AutomatedHome still needed 5
clicks.
