RE: Re: [OT] TomTom+GPS ?

A friend of mine has a high end Garmin GPS box. While cruising up the M1
recently, it was showing the speedo to high by nearly 9mph, but we were
going quickly :) Meanwhile on a plane to Germany, it agreed with the
pilots stated speed :))

I seem to recall that speedos always err on the side of caution ie. they
read higher than the actual speed you are doing. I think it was something
to
do with car manufacturers not wanting to be held responsible for people
speeding if a speedo was reading lower than the real speed. Could be an
urban myth though;)

Marcus,

I get something like this every now and then but not so severe. The
indicator shows that I'm sideways in the road sometimes but corrects
itself as soon as you start moving.

The odd thing I have noticed is that my speed on TomTom is
constantly 4 mph slower than that shown on the car speedo.
