RE: Copying Hard Drives
Sure... but it will take a bit of setup:
1. If there isn't one, create an active directory. This can just be a
single spare machine with Win2K (2003 handles XP RIS better though) as a
domain controller.
2. Install "Remote Installation Services" and a few patches to
get it to
work with XP (if you went with Win2k server)
3. Set up a .sif file to answer the install prompts (This will be an
automated, network based clean install, not an "image")
4. Set the RIS server to create the new computer accounts in a particular
OU
in your AD.
5. Create a Group Policy Object linked to that OU that deploys Office.
Then, to set up a new machine:
1. Install a PXE nic, or, if you are lucky, use the RBFG floppy to PXE
boot.
2. Enter a name and password
3. Come back in an hour
4. Change the computers name and remove it from the domain if desired.
HTH, Ask for more info, if you want... I do it almost every day this way.
About three hours to set up the first time, but a perfect, clean, CD-based
new install every time.

Is there any other way to have a pre-install setup of XP with Office etc
already installed that can be used to setup a variety of machines?
Thanks
