I've got a "Remote Cable Tester" cant remember what brand or
anything
which works pretty well.. You connect a small box to one end of the
cable, plug the other end in to the other half, push a button on that
half - 8 lights show the status of each wire, crossed ones are shown in
a different colour - even tests BNC tyle connections as well as RJ11
and RJ45
