RE: [OT] FTP server on W2K server

Just an important note... Unless you use EFTP (Encrypted FTP) the username
and password information are transmitted in clear text to the FTP server.

While I understand that this is not the security being referred to, I
cring=
e
whenever I hear anyone mention "Vanilla FTP" and
"Secure" in the same
sentence. It is an inherently insecure protocol.

Take a look at http://www.eftp.org for
one EFTP implementation... it is a
single server that can handle connections from EFTP and Vanilla FTP clients
at the same time.

I seem to remember there's a windows port of vsftpd, can't remember=20=20
where I saw it though... I've only used it on linux but it's very=20=20
customisable, very secure (no known exploits of any kind for the last=20=20
two versions), fast and doesnt use much CPU...
