Hi Tom,
Your request for help is approriate and actually I know is one of
many such ... I personally am going to address some of these issues as
soon as I can get the xAP to C-Bus gateway finalised. Which is very soon
now
- just a couple more weeks I hope until I can ship hardware - xAP on an
embedded platform.
I would step in now and say 'all this can be done', and here's how
but I don't think there is a xAP connector that takes raw 'CLIP' data which
is what the modified BT50 will put out - the awkward thing there is the
noise (bad data) and padding of variable length that appears almost as a
pre-amble before the modem synchs to the CLI tones. Not impossible - just
awkward.
On the modem side - if there is a modem based CID xAP then someone
let me know as then I could probably get it all working for you, and
talk/email you through it- [although the Caller name bit needs a bit of a
'tickle' as it was based on xAP 1.0, it runs on Win98 and does lookup in
Outlook for you].
If you had a Meteor then it would be well supported.
Certainly OSD of the number on Tivo (or a SliMP3) is no problem.
But the modem would be dedicated to Caller ID, - would that be a problem or
do you use it for its main purpose too ?? I doubt it could be shared. At
best you would have to quit the xAP CID sender app when you wanted to use
the modem and then relaunch it later.
