No, it's a fair comment.

The trouble with xAP, of course, is that the majority of us are
developing xAP primarily to meet our own needs. (That is why, for
example, I wrote the HomeVision xAP code.)

There is, in any architecture/protocol project, a flow of
documentation that broadly following the same path. I've included
broadbrush timelines for xAP.

- Statement of requirements (Q3 2002)
- System Architecture (Q4 2002)
- Developer reference code (Q1 2003)
- Developer HOWTOs (Q2 2003)
- Installer HOWTOs (Q3? 2003?)
- End-user HOWTOs (Q1 2004???)

What we are trying to put together now is a series of "HOWTOs"
aimed,
not at developers, but at installers.

You will see "shortly" a new pair of xAP websites.

1: Developers will have a targetted resource that contains much of
the in-depth technical information not only currently on
www.xapautomation.org, but also on various sites that individual
developers have put together.

2: Installers will have a targetted resource that includes not
only "ready to run" xAP components for download, but a series
of "HOWTO" documents.

What do I mean by "shortly".... well, depends really. If someone
wants to volunteer to pay Stuart or me to do this, then within 3-4
weeks :-) If left to our own devices, then it'll go in there among
all the other stuff like "having a life" and "making a
living".

Regards,

Mark
