Michael
Are you planning on running the actual HomeGate software on the Tablet or
running a Web Browser client version.
If you are running the web version then anything will do - I use a Sharp
Zaurus PDA to control HomeGate. And will shortly be using an Epod to
control
it from the bedroom with a suitable WiFi card.
If you're going to run Homegate on the Tablet - do you have kids ?? - By
pressing CTRL-S you can jump back to editing mode and alter the project.
This scares me :)
I believe the idea is to leave a version of Homegate running 24/7 on a
server etc. for Schedules etc., and use web based clients everywhere else.
Dean.

Subject: [ukha_d] RE: C-Bus and HomeGate AND tablet PC question
Thanks for the further information, Kevin. I do plan on running HomeGate
on
more than one PC in due course so that explanation will be vital!
Whilst on that topic, can anyone recommend a touch screen PC (I'm guessing
a
tablet will be the best bet) with a stand which I can use as an additional
HomeGate control panel. The only real requirements would be (1) the
ability
to run either HomeGate itself (i.e. a Windows machine) or Remote Desktop;
(2) decent size touch screen (say, 800 by 600); and (3) a RJ45 (wired)
ethernet port. I already have a wireless unit for the main room (a
ViewSonic v110) and this would be a unit for by the bed. Would the Fujitsu
Point 510 do the trick? If so, does anyone have one to sell?
As for the design of the HomeGate menu system, my other half has kindly
agreed to have a go at the graphic design / layout tasks. This is a great
relief as (1) she is substantially more talented in that area than me; and
(2) it is the first time, leaving aside TiVo which she loves, that she has
been even remotely interested in my gadgets! If we produce anything
noteworthy, I'll let you know.
Cheers,
Michael.
