Re: Re: C-Bus and Wire-wound transformers - HELP

Hi Bruno
Im using 50w LV halogen lamps with individual transformers on my C_Bus
setup and i only notice a noise when the lamps are initially turned on
..not a continual humming noise (unless im going deaf)...

We're already using HV halogens downstairs in the brick barn (the only
part of the buildings where we have a suspended ceiling and were
therefore able to use recessed spots). I don't have a problem with their
colour temperature, although the rooms are currently bare, so they don't
have a comfortable feel to them anyway. But the silence and easy
dimmability are priceless.

I don't think a bigger dimmer will help. We already have the 2A dimmers
for the 300W loads, so we've got plenty of headroom. We've had plenty of
detailed advice from Clipsal and they haven't suggested that a bigger
dimmer would help, so I'm guessing it wouldn't.

As I say, it looks like the best conclusion is not to use series LV
lighting with C-Bus. Individual LV lamps with small transformers might
be alright, but I'm betting you'd still get a buzz from them on dim.

We don't have to use HV halogen. I could go for a fibre-optic solution.
But I don't think I'll get the lumens that way, so I'll probably stick
with HV halogen.

Cheers,

Bruno
