I had dodgy toenails as a kid - my vote for the most excruciating
experience goes to the old woman who chopped into my big toe with a pair of
side cutters with no anesthetic of any kind!!!

Paul.

I did have something similar happen me but with a glass splinter...
Disappeared for a few weeks and then most of my finger decided it would
rather be outside the skin ;-)
Ended up with a lump similar to yours which had to be cut off...

Very technical procedure...
They bung an elastic band round your finger and then inject the anaesthetic
(btw: having a needle inserted into my finger tip has to be the most
painful
thing I have every experienced). After your all numbed up they cut it off -
I didn't see what they used but I reckon that it could have been a potato
peeler...

After they (eventually) stop the bleeding, depending on the size of hole
they've left, they get the soldering iron thing to it...
The smell of your own flesh burning isn't the nicest thing in the world
either...!

Enjoy your lunches...!

Andy.
