Hi Mark
Yes, I would agree wholeheartedly I have a pair of sweetspots in my
on-suite and their performance is disappointing. The reason for
considering using them is that I have another pair :-( which were
destined for the master bathroom, but that room is large and they will
fail miserably to provide the sound I want/need so was trying to put
them to use.
The Sekrits are going to be too large unfortunately, I think I might try
and audition some of the new ceiling mount 12" Sonance top end units
with pivoting midrange and tweeters. I have some Sonance 622TR's in the
Master Bedroom and they are quite impressive, but only directional
tweeters.
Any ceiling mounts that you have found particularly good?
Its only money..................
Rob

Rob,
Under normal circumstances, I'm a Linn fan. To establish my
credentials, I have a pair of Keilidhs and an LK85, and lust after a
Sondek CD12, which is the most impressive source of any kind I have
ever heard :-)
However, I would, shall we say, strongly recommend you audition the
Sweetspots before committing to them. I think that they somewhat let
the side down.
If you're into Linn and need in-wall, have a listen to the Sekrit
(and the smaller Diskreet) as well. Sekrit may well have the bass
extension you need - Diskreet may also need supplementing.
Hi-end passive power amps are a virtually unknown item any more,
there's a French company that make some good ones, but the name isn't
coming to me - virtually all the UK/US power amps are active (REL,
Linn etc.)
Regards,
Mark
