A bit late in getting back to you - still working through some of my email
:-(

I've been looking at a device from Adept Scientific - basically a USB
capture board. This may be what you're after. Unfortunately I'm still
waiting for the literature to arrive, but it looks interesting. 8 analogue
input channels and 16 digital I/O channels.

Price is GBP 95 +vat, this seems pretty good value to me :-)
