Xbox and XBMP

Finally got round to getting the xbox up and running with evox and XBMP.
But I have a couple of questions for the xbox guru's

1) Does XBMP work with the DVD remote or not?  At one time I thought I
heard that it didn't?
2) Had a quick look for a SMB share on my network this morning and the xbox
couldn't detect one.  All my machines are running window 2000 and have
their drives shared out.  We log on with the same username and password on
each machine and this give the current access.  How do I get the xbox to do
the same or do I need to change the permissions on the shares somehow?
