Re: RE: Help needed.....may loose job....
Hi Brian,
Sorry to hear that he's still being a "git" about the whole
thing.
> to me this still could lead to an electrical PD between me and the
laptop!
am I right?
Absolutely. In my opinion, the only way to be at the same pd as the laptop
is to be connected to the laptop itself.
His method will only work if the laptop's PSU is earthed and that earth is
attached to the laptop - and given that the majority of laptops use a
figure-8 lead to connect between the mains and the laptop's transformer,
there will be no earth carried to the laptop.

I would certainly be looking for a case of unfair dismissal unless he can
produce company documents/standards that you have apparently breached.
Regardless, don't give up. Make sure they know that you're not going to go
without a fight and seek legal advice with a view to tribunal. Make this as
uncomfortable for them as they are making it for you...
And then when you finnaly win, and get to keep your job and an apology,
tell
him to stick both up his arse!
Unfortunately, I don't know too much about these issues to be of any more
help.
Good luck,
Andy.
P.S. And if all that fails, have a look here:

for some ideas.

to
a wall outlet, no earthing the laptop, no bonding to the laptop, to me this
still could lead to an electrical PD between me and the laptop! am I right?

I
said I would apologise only after he did, there was no discussing the
situation at the time he just flipped, hence me loosing it.
